Riveting

Riveting is a process which invloves the joining of two parts by means of a metal part known as a rivet. Riveting is a permanent process  used for mechanical assembly  of two or more  solid components .

The rivet joins the adjacent surfaces of the parts. The material of the rivet is soft enough to get buckled by a normal  impulse force.

They are more suitable for sheer loads rather than tension loads. For riveting, a hole is drilled  on the component in a predefined location and the rivet of a specific dimension is inserted through these holes
